Face your Fears

It was a ritual that repeated itself regularly. He locked it in a trunk, he tried to hide the key. But the whispering only got louder and louder. No matter how much he tried to ignore it, it would torment him until he finally relented and retrieved the mask. He could hear it laughing at him. The only way to make it stop was to wear it.

It is almost as if a switch as been flicked. He had been nervous, slightly awkward before - a trait that endeared him to his prey. With the mask on, he strode with confidence and purpose - like a predator. He unravelled a cloth roll on the table, showing off the glint of steel - his instruments of art - and chose a blade.

He walked towards the bludgeoned body at the foot of the bed. His prey. How her pretty eyes widened when decided to shut up her banal chattering with a hammer. Her breaths were shallow as the puddle of blood spread beneath her. No matter how beautiful they were, they all sounded the same in the end. Full of blood and gurgle and spit.

He knelt at her feet and whispered to her like a lover. "Be brave," he said. "Face your fears...." Then he grimaced as the laughing started anew. Only blood would placate the voices...

The Collector

The collector sits in his basement admiring his latest prize. The sprite had been elusive but greed had got the better of it. A simple tar trap with a slightly rotten banana in the middle had been its undoing.
No one understood his work. He had been accused of gluing butterfly wings to lizard bodies before.
He muttered, "They have eyes but they do not see..." as he plunged a fine pin through the dorsum of the creature's left foot.

A shrill squeak emanated from the stricken creature. It wasn't dead. The collector looked upon it dispassionately and reached for the syringe. The most effective way he found to embalm these things was to inject the chemicals while the heart was still beating. "Now this won't hurt a bit..." he said, and slid the needle under the skin.

Shroomin Gacha

There was a time in SL that searching for anything bohemian was a drag. It just didn't exist, at least anything of real quality. Now between events like Uber and Shiny Shabby one can start to build the bohemian paradise they have always wanted to escape to. Until recently, there was something missing in the equation, something that any true hippie, who knows why all of those groovy patterns and colors are so appealing, might still be itching for...psychedelics and the pot to ease you in and out of your trip.

The amount of planning that goes into TAG! Gacha is enough to make me wonder if I have some masochistic tendencies. The only way to survive it is to pace myself and make sure to take some time out. Shabby Cupid

Not sure exactly when it happened but I have come to love Valentines Day and even Shabby Chic. I think the shabby chic thing has a lot to do with Apple Fall. This is one artist that can do no wrong when it comes to Gacha. There is something cosmopolitan about his work even tho the textures are often worn and washed over. Apples latest gacha can be found at The Chapter Four and if you are not blown away by the items, you will be by the price. The Chapter Four is usually on the higher end when it comes to the price to play but Apple is a treasure with his at 45L. 

Remarkable Oblivion has made lovers and haters of Valentines day very happy this year with a set of wings. One thing you can always count on in SL is a set of horns or wings and when Sebastian gets to working on these SL classics, he just blows it out of the water. Haters will love the black set, so very emo and lovers can get hot and bothered over the deep red. You can find these in their mainstore. Other notable artists here are Seven Emporium. Dear Agustkov has fed our Jesus jones again at Collabor88 with a big ol Jesus sign to add to your collection but I am even more fond of the little working help button he made. The scripted one will call whatever avatar number you enter soooo...make your own mischief there. Just another Seven Emporium gadget you didnt know you needed. Finally a nod to Halogen for these amazing curtains. Hanging roses and lights over sheer panels? Divine! You can pick those up at Collabor88 as well.

Cake Stomper

The Elf emerged from the forest and began stomping on all the New Year cakes we had displayed. You could see a grin pull at the corners of it's mouth, staring down at her wiggling toes, packed with frosting. We stood there shocked. Not so much by the destruction but more so at the site of her. We watched with smiles of our own until the little thing turned and scampered off.

Ebenezers Gift

Time keeps crawling along. Here we are at another December. Last year Second Life gacha had us dressed as penguins in octopus hats slapping people with fish. We had a massive gift giving effort set up at Gachatopia called Santas Grotto that brought everyone together. This year we have something else for our beloved community of gacha junkies. We used Two Leaf's new Mystery Gift giving server to hide an exclusive gift in Ebenezers house at Gachatopia. This years batch of DRD elves can be found at the Merry Crisis Gacha Fair. You might find yourself curbside with them however, as they are pretty offensive and have a hard time making friends. Nefarious has a gacha collection there of bows that are well worth a few pulls. This is a new brand but the few things they have done show tons of promise. The bows come for the neck or the head. Another December

Its December again and Second Life gacha has never been better. The Men's Department is hosting a special gacha edition this round along with non gacha items like this messenger bag from Remarkable Oblivion. This version is cayote tan but there are two others to choose from. You can also grab this down vest while you are there by Mikunch. It fits great and has a HUD to change the button down shirt texture underneath. Head over to the Arcade and have a look at Spellbound's new release. Shown here is the Dreamy Bear rare using the blondes HUD. The hat itself has color options and there are plenty of commons without the hat so you can wear this hair year round. Half Deer blesses our inventories again this December with a new winter version of Kerfluffles. These sheep are really fun to collect and have a place almost anywhere in or outside your home.

Grateful Dreads

Years ago there were only one or two decent dreads for your avatar in Second Life. You had to wear them black because any other color only highlighted the awkward textures. I started wearing dreads regularly a few years ago when Boon really stepped up to the plate and created some great styles in mesh. Soonsiki has also released a regular stream of dreads in funky styles but this latest one shown here is Tableau Vivant. You might remember the first Tableau Vivant dreads that came out last winter, flowing out of a winter hat. These are a little more versatile and can be used in role play or for your modern out of character looks. You can find these now in two styles at We Love Role Play.

Bramble

Spellbound seemed to spring up out of nowhere earlier this year with such a unique perspective on hair and branding that their influence can be seen now in many other hair brands in Second Life. Creator Kohana Xue has a style all her own and if you have a streak of rockabilly goth in you like me, Spellbound will fill your needs. Her latest release is Bramble, a flowing full bodied look with a slouch beret option. The hair comes with a HUD for the beret giving you 8 color options and fantastic texturing. Bramble can be found at Sad November untill the 22nd. Also featured here is a tulle apple skirt by GATO. I had to grab this at the Xiasumi School Festival for the pattern which reminds me of vintage oil cloth. The event is donating proceeds to Save the Children so shop away and feel good about your spending!

The Junk Shop

The season is changing...FINALLY! But not before September squeezes out a few more events and ties up some of those that are already running, like the Arcade. Shopping the Arcade for me has always been a two or three part process. Yes the initial rush is fun, but head back now and experience the pleasure of shopping leisurely without the crowd. Take a closer look at all these machines have to offer. Seven Emporium is a great example. His machines are always eclectic, containing a variety different things that really transport you in some way. This latest machine has vintage flair with apocalyptic overtones. Speaking of apocalyptic Uber is having a great round of end of the world type stuff.You can also catch these mechanical birds at TLC. Half Deer offers them up with a Mad Scientist Birdcage for the events mad science theme. 

But what about October? The most celebrated month in Second Life is going to be off the charts this year. You will want to keep an eye on the TAG! Gacha website. This event offers something completely new for Second Life gacha. This HUD based event with an incredible line up of creators is bound to entertain you. The Darkside

September is one of my favorite Arcade rounds because we always get a little taste of October here and there. Never quite enough if you ask me but this round has some real winners. The reigning kings of the darkside for the Arcade are Remarkable Oblivion and Contraption. RO is just getting started with this set called Melancholy. They have promised an expansion of sorts to be showing up in October. The Arcade pieces, hat, skirt, bracers and collar are masterful in form and texture. You can grab them up in all three colors during the month of September.

Also, tucked away among the cuteness and kids stuff, you can dig up these dark treasures. Half Deer's second machine, the next edition of Kerfuffles. Only these are what you would find grazing on the dead lawn of the Addams Family. Contraption with another set of dreary music boxes for everyone to collect. ISON steps up to the altar with a set of finely made household items. They usually retire their machines so don't let that one pass you by. Theosophy has a clever set of fortune telling machines with a Rare that gives very funny predictions. Good luck trying to get that however, the machine is very stingy with Zoltar.

Forest Tale

Halogen adds her special touch to the Arcade with her new machine A Forest Tale. One of the things Half Deer does best is cross breeding! Yes, I said it and its right in the brand name! She has been making us all a little bit woodland animal for years but I just about lost it when I saw what she had done to bunnies for her Arcade gacha. These little guys have the sweetest butterfly wings and a wonderful hold animation. Don't worry about rezzing them either, they are only 1 LI. The jewelry in this set is worth playing for as well. Beads and ribbons mix with metal and other findings making some truly unique accessories. Owl lovers will swoon over the two wide eyed versions in this gacha as well. They have curious blinking eyes and perch themselves sweetly in your hand. Available September 1st , where else but the Arcade!

Arcade Junk

The Arcade is two years old this round. I have to admit, after 2 years playing the Arcade, I am not the same player I used to be.One of the big differences is that I have developed very clear favorites with regard to creators. One of those is the brand Junk. They have a very bohemian sensibility which appeals to the deadhead in me, with the added swank of my favorite era, the 1950's. Unique, chic and always a little weathered, Junk is always a go to machine. This round they offer "One Man's Junk" which they described as being little bits of what you might find at a flea market. All I can say is this is one very cool flea market! The pipe phone is really cool and the daybed animations are new and different. The fan RARE is super sweet, you can fill it with your own pictures. Other items featured here you can find in the Junk store.

DRD did a poll on their Facebook page about this machine. Jaimy asked what people would like to see and GEEKS prevailed! Here she has taken gaming to the next level and turned it into a bunch of wearable stuff. I put on my personal favorites for the shot below. Make sure to read all of the little pins and the details on the tablet screen. They are pretty funny. Happy Birthday Collabor88

It seems like only a few rounds ago we were all dressing up for the last C88 birthday round with all of the great vintage clothing. This round is going to be Greek inspired with all sorts of variations on the theme and also some classic must haves like the letter set from Seven Emporium. Now look close at these because they are not like ones previously released. The wall version of this set is an utter necessity if you own any kind of sim or business. This simple lettering will go a long way as it is resizable and has a color change option.

Take to the sky with Flowey, she has released the Throne of Smite an attachable chair that allows you to hover around above the crowd and looking down in judgement. Also released is this Bolt of Smite which will fire real thunderbolts in case anyone challenges your right to the throne.

Get your Medium Slink feet ready Remarkable Oblivion has tried their hand at the cobble and produced these super chunk wedges in three natural shades. If you love a big shoe these will delight you to no end. This is also their maiden run in Collabor88 and I hope not their last.

Also in this picture a killer release from Spellbound. Does this creator EVER fail at hair?...nope. Jezebel is a brand new in store release and is full of body and style. Happy Birthday Gachatopia!

Gachatopia opened one year ago this month. I will never forget the day we opened and people poured in looking around wondering what the heck this place was going to be. It was hard to explain because it was just an idea. A place for all things gacha, is all we could really say. There was no one renting and no one in the group but gacha fans flooded over the sim and most of them never left. Many of the original members of the community have become good friends and we are proud to say that one year later, that community has grown to one of the largest, most active gacha communities in Second Life.

Gachatopia celebrates this month with some great gifts and two amazing Gacha Shows. Saturday the 2nd at 2pm slt we have the colorful Katat0nik here for an interview. She has made everyone this little fox plushie you see in these images. Everyone who attends will get one. Speaking of Gacha Show gifts, we are releasing some past gifts out into the Gachatopia community via free raffles over the course of the month to celebrate. Another important and loved part of Gachatopia are the creators who have supported us and joined in the fun here over the past year.
